Volunteer Efforts Earn ARNO Beneficiary Status

November 29, 2008

The hard work of the dedicated volunteers and staff at ARNO within our community has been recognized by two prominent local organizations, one a non-profit and the other a famous New Orleans restaurant.

The New Orleans Wine and Food Experience (NOWFE), a non-profit organization, recently presented Animal Rescue New Orleans with a $5,000 grant for their work in the community. The Board NOWFE presented ten local organizations grants totaling $125,000 to support their programs and foundations. Proceeds from the 2008 event benefits the Louisiana Restaurant Association’s ProStart Program, University of New Orleans School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism, Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, Delgado Community College Culinary Arts Program, New Orleans Firefighter Firehouse Restoration Fund, Coach Sean Payton’s Play It Forward, Girls First, Cancer Crusaders, Fore!Kids, and Animal Rescue New Orleans.

NOWFE 2009 will be held May 19 – 23, 2009. More than 175 Wineries from around the world & 75 of New Orleans’ best restaurants will showcase their offerings at a Five-Day Feast for All of the Senses! For additional information go to http://www.nowfe.com/

We are also very proud to announce that Galatoire’s Restaurant, one of the most distinguished of New Orleans’ old-line restaurants, has selected ARNO, along with Our Lady of Guadeloupe Catholic Church (Shrine of St. Jude), to be a recipient of funds collected from their “Mardi Gras at Galatoires Auction.” Tables and seats for Mardi Gras Day 2009 are auctioned off every year to benefit local nonprofit organizations. ARNO is extremely proud of being selected for this honor and hopes it is an extremely successful auction this year. Even in a depressed economy, ARNO feels that having St. Jude as a ‘partner recipient’ (the patron saint of lost causes) it will be a very generous auction. Galatoire’s Restaurant is located at 209 Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, and also operates a Galatoire’s in Baton Rouge, LA since Katrina. For more information about Galatoire’s please go to http:www.galatoires.com/ and bon appetit!

Without the tireless work from all of the ARNO volunteers, past and present (and future!), we wouldn’t be receiving these honors. As a volunteer seven-day-a-week non-profit we depend 100% on volunteer work and donations. Every penny matters and every penny helps to rescue, care, rehabilitate and house all of the amazing animals that come through our doors.

Please consider volunteering or donating today.
